The Weathervane Restaurant in Plymouth, completed in 1998, was a renovation of an existing historic structure on Plymouth Harbor, originally built in 1948. For many years the famous fisherman and his dory sat above the Mayflower Seafood Company until the building was abandoned in 1990. The new project demolished portions of an existing restaurant, seafood processing plant, and seafood market to allow for the new courtyard, the 200 seat restaurant, offices, and retail shops. The project was unanimously approved by both the Plymouth Historic Commission and the Plymouth Harbor Review Committee. Its location with views of the Mayflower and Plymouth Rock is an important asset of the harbor.
