The Core Lab and Long Core Staging Bay addition to the existing cLean Laboratory on the Quisset Campus of the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution involved providing a new facility for the design and construction of a new deep sea long core device and temperature and humidity controlled storage space for approximately several thousand core samples. The addition's location is an important visual first image of WHOI Laboratories upon entering the Campus. The Lab's most importan visual component is the daylighting wall panels which allow use of the interior without electrical light, while maintaining a highly insulated thermal wall system; the building also incorporates earth-bermed foundation walls for increased energy efficiency.
