The Gus Canty Community Center was dedicated in December 1998, in
the Town of Falmouth, MA. The 30,000 square foot mixed-use facility replaced a fifty year
old recreation center that was situated on the same site, Main Street,
near the Falmouth Police Headquarters and Guv Fuller Field.
The Center contains and 11,400 square foot gymnasium/auditorium
with complete locker and shower facilities for the Town Recreation
Department and approximately 4,000 square feet of meeting rooms and mixed use
areas.
The design composed in brick and masonry is reminiscent of the
shapes and details in the New England tradition and completes and
organizes and an eleven acre town complex which also contains the Falmouth Artist
Guild.
Selected local artisans have incorporated stained glass and carved
wood scallop shells into the architecture with grants from the
community.
